When is the Kylmäluoma Outdoor Centre open?

The Kylmäluoma Outdoor Centre is open year-round, but opening hours vary depending on the season.

During the summer season, the Outdoor Centre is open every day, and opening hours are extended during the busiest holiday weeks.

In winter, we often welcome group visitors as well – which means we are usually around almost daily, but schedules may vary depending on bookings and group activities.

November is typically our quiet month, and the Outdoor Centre is usually closed then.

If you’re visiting during winter, we recommend checking the current opening hours with us or when making your accommodation booking.

Is there a café or restaurant at the Outdoor Centre?

Yes! The Outdoor Centre offers café and restaurant services during opening hours.

You’ll also find:

  • a small kiosk shop
  • a souvenir shop
What kind of food do you offer?

Our food selection changes with the season.

In summer, we serve lunch every day, and you can also choose à la carte dishes from the menu.

In winter (especially mid-winter), we often offer several ready meal options, such as:

  • breakfast
  • lunch
  • dinner

These are commonly arranged based on group bookings and schedules.

For the most up-to-date information about meals and availability, feel free to ask the Outdoor Centre – and if you’re staying overnight, it’s a good idea to check meal options when booking your accommodation.

Can I get food to take away or to my cabin?

Yes, some items are available as takeaway. If you’re staying in a cabin, just ask us for the easiest meal options and any pre-order possibilities throughout the year.

Where can I find information about trails and nature in Kylmäluoma?

Trail information, maps and current updates can also be found on luontoon.fi. You’re always welcome to ask the Outdoor Centre for personal route tips and recommendations.

Is there a camping area in Kylmäluoma?

Yes. Kylmäluoma has a camping area located right next to the Outdoor Centre, on a beautiful pine forest ridge between two clear-water lakes.

The camping area is suitable for caravans all year round, and it’s conveniently located close to Highway 5.

What is the camping area like?

The camping area is a great fit for both caravans and tent campers.

There are different types of pitches available, including:

  • asphalt-based pitches and natural ground pitches
  • electric and non-electric spots
  • spacious areas for tents

The service building includes:

  • saunas (heated year-round)
  • a separate fish cleaning area for anglers
  • a large summer kitchen
  • kitchen facilities also suitable for winter use

What kind of accommodation is available in Kylmäluoma?

Kylmäluoma offers a wide range of accommodation options, including:

  • cabins
  • apartments
  • small summer cabins for simple overnight stays
  • modern log cabins with a private sauna

There are also larger cabins available for bigger groups, including cabins for 10+ guests and wilderness-style cabins.

What rental equipment is available?

Kylmäluoma offers rental equipment for different seasons.

In summer, rentals may include:

  • SUP boards
  • mountain bikes

In winter, rentals may include:

  • sliding snowshoes
  • snowshoes

Where can I go swimming in Kylmäluoma?

Kylmäluoma has several great places to swim, and the lakes here are known for their clear, clean water. You can take a dip from piers or natural shorelines around the area.

The main swimming beach is at Iso-Pajuluoma. There is a pier and beautiful clear water, and it’s located right between the Outdoor Centre and the camping area.

The swimming area is closed to fishing, so you can swim peacefully.

What can you do in Kylmäluoma throughout the year?

Kylmäluoma is a compact and easy destination where everything is close by. Once you arrive at your cabin or set up at the camping area, you often won’t need your car again – services, trails and nature are all within walking distance.

Depending on the season, you can enjoy hiking, relaxing in nature, fishing, paddling, outdoor activities and a peaceful holiday atmosphere.

There is also an official disc golf course in the area, and you can borrow discs from the Outdoor Centre if needed.

If you feel like exploring beyond Kylmäluoma, there are plenty of great day trip options nearby. For example:

  • Julma-Ölkky in Hossa National Park
  • nature destinations around Kuusamo
  • and in Taivalkoski, the old village shop Jalava, which is well worth a visit
