Winter Ski Tracks in Hossa and Kylmäluoma – Enjoyed on Nature’s Terms
30/12/2025
Hossa and Kylmäluoma offer winter skiing in the heart of nature, surrounded by forests, ridges, mires and frozen lakes. The ski tracks and winter trails are designed for relaxed cross-country skiing and outdoor enjoyment rather than performance. Conditions vary with weather and snowfall, and that is an essential part of the experience.
Ski Tracks in Hossa – Variety and Winter Experiences
Hossa offers approximately 60 kilometres of classic-style cross-country ski tracks. The tracks run through diverse landscapes, including forests, eskers, mires and lake areas. Not all tracks are open at all times, as opening and conditions depend on snowfall and weather.
The Nalle Track was opened last night. This easy-profile classic ski track runs near the Hossa Nature Centre and is especially well suited for families and relaxed skiing.
Ski tracks in Hossa are maintained by the local Hossa track team, who take care of grooming to the best of their ability and prepare the tracks sensibly after snowfall.
Multi-Use Winter Trails in Hossa National Park
In addition to ski tracks, Hossa also has multi-use winter trails, suitable for activities such as walking, snowshoeing and winter cycling.
Currently, the following multi-use trails are in good condition:
- From Hossa village to the Hossa Nature Centre
- From the Hossa Nature Centre to Seipiniemi
The multi-use winter trails within Hossa National Park are maintained by Metsähallitus and will gradually reach full winter condition as weather and snow conditions allow.
Lake and Mire Sections – Changing Conditions
The ski tracks and winter trails in Hossa run largely through natural terrain. Along the routes there are lake and mire sections, where conditions can change quickly.
On lake sections, wind may drift snow over the tracks in a short time. On mire sections, moisture in the ground and snow can affect the skiing surface. Every effort is made to keep the tracks in good condition, but they are not always perfect – and that is part of moving in nature.
At the moment, the lakes are frozen, but for example at Öllöri, some water has risen onto the surface of the ice. This is good to keep in mind when moving in the area.
Skiing in Kylmäluoma – Peaceful Routes in Natural Surroundings
In Kylmäluoma, there is currently around 5 kilometres of classic ski track in use. The track loops around Iso-Pajuluoma and offers a calm and scenic skiing experience in the middle of nature.
If desired, the lake section can be shortened, resulting in a route of approximately 3 kilometres. As in Hossa, the route includes lake and mire sections where wind and changing weather conditions can quickly affect track quality.
Skiing with the Rhythm of Nature
In Hossa and Kylmäluoma, skiing is not about speed or performance, but about being outdoors and moving with the rhythm of the seasons. These tracks are skied on nature’s terms – and that is exactly why they are so enjoyable.
We always recommend checking the latest track conditions before heading out.
